The Saucony Grid SD “Derby Pack” released in 2016 as a nod to the 142nd Kentucky Derby, this pack comprised of three two tone colorways. Black Salmon, Berry Black, and these Purple Light Blue beauties.
They weren’t a collaboration or a limited release but the two tone and quality materials Saucony typically use on their originals line do it for me. It’s a simple colorway that has a crazy amount of texture. From my count they used 8 different fabrics on the upper alone. They all work perfectly together bringing depth and detail without over powering the simpleness of the two tone, and that is no easy task.
All in all I find that the Grid SD silhouette is one of my favorite Saucony shoes so that may make me a bit bias. What do you think, did they nailed the balance between detail and simplicity on this pack?
Even though the shoe is already 2 years old, the GR made it a fairly well stocked shoe in North America so you can still find a pair or two kicking around the clearance shelves of your local sneaker shop. Happy hunting.
